There are a lot of fires in the winter.

This winter is warm.

年末年始　/nenmatsu nenshi/　Year end & New year’s day

年末年始ねんまつねんしはオーストラリアで過すごす予定よていです。
I plan to spend the New Year’s holiday in Australia.

お盆　/obon/　Middle week of the summer break

お盆は仏教ぶっきょうの年中行事ねんちゅうぎょうじで、7月13日から16日に行おこなわれます。
Bon, an annual Buddhist event, is from July 13th to the 16th.

梅雨　/tsuyu/　Rainy season (June)

早はやく梅雨つゆ明けないかなあ。
I wish the rainy season would end soon.

梅雨つゆらしく空そらはどんよりしている。
The sky is gloomy and gray, a typical rainy-season sky.
